Hi

Is it easy socialising with the locals in Singapoe, and what are the most common ways to do that?

How did you guys meet your first friends in Singapore? Are the fellow colleagues the portal to the social networking?

How are foreigners treated?

Obviously it's various from person to person, how social you are and so on.

join the local community centre gym or something!

Go clubbing! thats where all the local hang out

or, as my wife did ... join a Church

well, simple.. just post it in the forum, to arrange for a coffee session / drinking session / kids gathering session... im sure repsonse should be quite responsive and it's should be a great exchange of cultures.

Just my personal thoughts..

I have found socialising with the locals to be rather difficult so it's not something I do anymore.

Being asked how much everything costs (such as my condo, my clothes etc...), how much I earn (been asked this a few times), people never saying thank you (even when they've been round your house and eaten your food and drunk your drinks) by someone I met a few hours ago is just something I can never get my head around and just shows up the Singaporeans I seem to meet as money-hungry mercenaries.

I try not to let it get me down and simply don't socialise with Singaporean people anymore. Maybe others have had different experiences, I hope so

I've lived and worked in Asia for a number of years before coming to Singapore and so I am used to it, but not on the level it is here, must be something they put in the water (although in the cultural wasteland that is Singapore I guess the people don't have much else to talk about other than money)

Find a international church with local and foreign members, that way you meet people with different culture and background.

If you are here for work, I believe colleagues will be the best people to start with.

Else you may try to visit forums on specific interest group such as photography, football, etc.

Recently I met a guy that kept asking how much I am earning. LOL. I find this interesting! Not only the girls keen on how much u earning, but the guys also want to know how much his date earning.
