Singapore Expats

Hello... a quick question from a panicky mum! We are just about to arrive in Singapore in 2 weeks. My son needs to have this Japanese B Encephalitis vaccine as he is going on a Raleigh trip to Borneo (it's obligatory as far as they are concened, so no arguing!)

Is the vaccine easily available in Singapore? He'll need to have his first one just a few days after arriving. I will call the Medical Centre tomorrow, but it's closed right now. Any help much appreciated.

I think you mean Jap E - not B. And yes, available

[Edit: It's a course of three sub-cuts - usually 10 days apart]

thanks sierra, I presume it is the same thing E for encephalitis, whereas in Europe we call it Jap B encephalitis. Do you happen to know if it has to be ordered? Time is of the essence....

From a mate of mine: Traveller`s Health and Vaccination Clinic. Tan Tock Seng Hospital Medical Centre Address: Level B2 11 Jalan Tan Tock Seng Singapore 308433. I went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to get vaccinations. They're fast and the price for the panels needed for Africa cost about 1/2 the price my personal physcian quoted.

yes, I saw you added that info, thanks. Do you usually need to order it or do you just turn up &start the course that day?

My experience with Jap E is it's better to ring ahead and make sure they have stocks.
