Will be moving to Singapore in about 12 days time and just got approved for PR after 6 months application time.

Wondering how long can I stay in Singapore with a PR? Do you have to renew it every year?

I do not have a job, as I will be applying for jobs as soon as possible, after I get there and of course pick up my PR from MOM.

Something doesn't make sense here...as I understand it you have to be IN Singapore to get PR (permanent residence), unless you have applied for LPR (Landed Permanent Residence). Did you apply for LPR?

Otherwise, without actually having a job...hmm...did you apply for some type of Employment Pass like the Personal Employment Pass? As far as I know, this is the only EP that can be granted without actually having a job. Alternatively, have you applied for Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) that allows you to look for a job for up to a year, but doesn't actually entitle you to work?

The reason I ask is that PR and EPEC comes from ICA, PEPs come from MOM.

According to the documents I recently received with my PR approval, the PR itself never actually expires, but to get in and out of Singapore you need a REP (Re-entry permit) which must be renewed every five years. They will decline to renew the REP if you can't demonstrate that you have been living/working in Singapore over the last three years +. If you can't prove that (with tax returns?) then your PR is effectively canceled. They can also withdraw it if you commit a crime etc.

Your PR does not expire. It is your Reentry Permit (REP) that does.
It used to be good for 10 years. Now ICA has change it to 5yrs. You need to be here for the last three years of your 5 yrs validity in order for it to be renewed. It also mean in another way , you need to be paying SG Income Tax for the last three years prior renewal
You applied PR or Landed PR thru SMC ?
Have you been working here prior the application if you go by PR route not LPR

epec comes from MOM not ICA

the ltsvp from the epec comes from ICA

Probably best to go to the ICA to pick up your PR

Under what process was your PR application, LPR? Spouse?

Let me share a bit more light on to the story.

We are living in Portland, Oregon, which is the place where my wife and I submitted the application by snailmail for approval for PR. I am a U.S. citizen.

My wife is from Singapore and her whole lives there now. We were married in Singapore. I am sure her family had some influence on the decision for the application. My wife is currently working and will be working there as well.

I have not worked in Singapore at all.

We applied by PR, not LPR. --> I was approved for PR. I do not have all the answers as to how I was granted PR approval, but will find out more once in Singapore.

Ah...... your PR application is thru sponsorship of your spouse

Anyway it is the same as your PR does not expire but your REP does. Its validity is 5 yrs .

Sounds very familiar to me

When you complete your PR process at the ICA your will be given a 5 year REP. When the REP is up for renewal you can either pop down to the ICA or use your Singpass on do it on line. The one advantage you have is that you don't have to submit CPF statement or Tax returns for last 3 years. You don't have to even been employed, as long as you are still legally married to your Singaporean Spouse you can remain in Singapore for as long as you like!
