Hi,

I am looking for a maid who can come in within half to 1 month, to look after my 4 yo son and do some simple housework. Only mother and son in the small family and easy to managed. Not demanding and easy going family who believe in good relationship with the maid as a family. I need her to speak good English to guide my son in his studies.

I regret ithat I can only give her 1 week off as I need to work over the weekend.

No agents please. I do my own transfer process.

Why don't you take a course in compassion for individuals less fortunate than yourself, and then get back to us?

Frankly, this shouldn't be in the forum at all. It should have been posted in the Classifieds section of the site as it is a Position Available Advertisement. This isn't a Domestic Helper Issue but a family looking to hire a slave/maid. An issue is a problem with you existing slave/maid.
I think we need to tighten this thread up a bit.

My helpers have so far enjoyed doing housework at the same time teaching my son ABC when I am out at work.

It should NEVER be in a domestic's job scope to help your children with their homework. This should ALWAYS be handled by the Parents. Otherwise, the parents will forever be blaming the maid for the kids poor marks in school. Additionally, you are hiring a domestic, not an educator. Big Difference. Paying somebody $150 to $400 a month to do all your household chores PLUS educate your children?

Leaving beside the salary, my biggest problem with such an arrangement would be trust. How can somebody trust a maid to take care of education of children? With all due respect, but most of the domestic helpers are exactly just helpers. They may know (usually in my opinion they do not, but that's the other story) THEIR part of the job (i.e., cleaning, cooking, picking up children from school etc.), but they are not teachers, tutors etc.

I can imagine it is hard to manage everything when you have to go to work and you are a single parent, but then again your son really needs you around, at least a bit.

Did your helper telling you she is enjoying?
If your helper is enjoying, why you need still need to look for helper?

Agree with another poster - why on earth should you expect your "maid" to help with your child's homework? You should be advertising for a nanny or childminder, a very different thing.

I dont understand why an innocent post to look for maid generate so much negative response. I find it subject and arrangement between employer and maid.

Previous post why I am still looking for maid, because she wants to go back to Indonesia to marry and have kids.

Anyway I have already found a new maid few weeks ago and wiish to close this thread, if possible can moderator delete it.

And yes, while the arrangement is between employer and maid, it is attitudes such as yours that cause many to call for mandatory minimums for days off for maids. Unfortunately, your view of 'reasonable' maid treatment is common among far too many Singaporeans.
