Hi all,

I had an interview today. The company likes me, but they want me to join as soon as possible. I am on Dependent pass right now and need LOC to start work.So I just want to ask if anyone knows how fast I can get the LOC from MOM. Many thanks!

You can get the paper the same day if you call into MOM and ask at the reception, in fact you may be able to download it from the MOM website

I have downloaded LOC already. They asked when I can join the company. What should I say?

What is the quickest way to do it? How long does it take MOM to process LOC usually?

Isn't it for the company to request MoM for an LoC for you? Don't understand why you need to do it. I just had to sign my appointment letter, post which my company did the needful and I got my LOC in 3 working days.

I was rejected by company because they want somebody who can start work immediately, so frustrated:(

They are idjuts. Show them MOM website. If they have EPOnline (and most do), apply for letter of consent electronically,

Me: I need LOC from MOM, usually one week, so next THU

She (not happy)

Me : Maybe quickest would be one or two days.

She: are you sure?

You can start within a day or 2, just get the company to fill it in and take it yourself to MoM, it will be quicker than online, just tell reception you need to hand it to an officer, explain that you want to start asap. He will probably just tell you to go ahead and start if the form is stamped.

You can get it done straight away, just take it into MOM and give it to an officer who has authority, not a desk clerk. He will give you the gohead, its a formality once they check the LOC is fillled in properly.

That is correct but most companies cannot find out about it, so if she wants it done quickly its best she gets the form, hands it to them to fill in, she signs and takes it to MOM and it can be done the same day, no need to wait 3 days in most cases.

Had been contacted by several companies and agents. Most of them asked "are you Singaporean or PR". My answer would be no, I am on dependent pass, then some of them just said sorry to me cos they need PR or Citizen. One manager told me her company is not qualified to apply LOC for me. Is that true? Does company need to have certain qualifications to apply LOC for me? Thanks!

There are certain occupations that are ineligible and an LoC cannot be obtained to work in those occupations/types of companies, e.g., massage parlours, tuition agencies, and several others.
