Got Aus PR, what to do with a 1 month old car?

Dear All,

I've just changed my car to Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.4vvt 4wd with all the bells and whistles. The registration date was 15-Sep-2010. I've bought it at 125K. Now the new car price is $129K.

I was granted australia PR on 27th Oct, which was applied on 8/8/8. I wasn't expecting to come through till next Oct. That's why I changed the car.

I wish to move to Aus by Jan 2011.

I can't sell the car now as I've learnt that the vehicle cannot be transferred to another owner within 6 months for Cat B COE.

Any advice on the options available..is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
MG.

I'll give you a nickle ninety-five for it! I'll even wait for the 6 months to be up. :P

Ouch! I know that hurts really bad. I was in a similar situation. Had bought a brand new car just 6 months ago and then this offer to come over to SG came along. And at that time I wasnt sure how long I am gonna be here 1 yr, 2 yrs, 5yrs? I just went ahead assuming the best case scenario that I wont be returning anytime soon and sold it and took a massive 25% cut for just 6 months and driven about 6k kms :(

If you are not allowed to sell your car, I guess your options are:
1)Give it to your relatives or close friends.
2)Lease out your car for a year or so and sell it when you get a chance to come back to visit SG.

Hi - did you find a solution? Are you able to rent it per month? If so we are interested.....

25% cut in 6 months. Well not too bad. The joke used to be that Italian cars depreciate by 50% just by driving them off the forecourt!

Hi,

No, I still haven't found a solution. Sure, we can explore the option of renting it out on a monthly basis. Sent you a pm.

Thanks,
