Is there any site for buying electronics and gadgets online in singapore, something like Amazon, bestbuy in US?

i did find ebay singapore site but it doesn't seem to be very exhaustive.

Nah. The average Singaporean won't buy electronic online as they want to touch, feel, and insure the box wasn't opened until they opened it before they bought it. Depending on what it is, you might want to try Paris Silk Store. http://www.parisilk.com/

There are some sites that cater to specific electronics but nothing like Amazon or Bestbuy. It's because of what SMS said--people here prefer to caressing the device first.

On the flipside, this is such a small country that going to the brick-and-mortar store is convenient enough.

There are some but mostly geared towards computer parts and they only accept Cash-on-Delivery. I've used Potterhouse before simply because I find it a waste of time to hunt around Sim Lim for a computer part only to find no one has it in stock.

Here's a similar question, which US internet stores deliver all/most electronics on offer to Singapore?

Amazon.com is great, but they won't ship a lot of stuff directly to Singapore. For instance I could get a nice Casio camera shipped here, but no such luck with Canon or Sony.

FWIR, it's a legal issue why electronics can't be shipped to outside of the US by US stores, not just Amazon. It's somewhere in the Amazon help pages.

Of course, the loophole is shipping it to a forwarding company (e.g. Vpost) which has a presence in the US or asking a friend to receive for you then shipping it to you.

What I got directly from the States of the said above category was:
- A few cameras, lightmeter and some other related but 2nd hand stuff.
- Computerized balances (weighting scales)
- RCA switches'

Yes, but it seems to depend on the brand in question and not all electronics overall. I can still order a good Casio camera directly to Singapore for instance.

As for Portland, that is the obvious alternative for all other goods which can't be sent direct.

Amazon/NewEgg are good options but both are US based.
You can have the good shipped here using companies like BorderLinx. They will provide you a US address and then ship the goods to Singapore and pay the required duties.
