You better refer some books or download some videos from internet to guide you through.
People here do not have time to meet up their own friends for fun...and teaching someone cooking?...I dont think anyone will take out time.
I'm not trying to sound negative...but this is the reality.
or better try posting the msg on Members of Bhartiya Association section which is meant Indians..you might get some reponses

You should probably pick up a few dishes that you want to master- would suggest a simple dal recipe, a mixed veg side dish to go with it and steamed rice-that way you can atleast cook a "complete meal" and surprise your wife when she's back.
Would highly recommend Chef Sanjeev Kapoor and Chef Tarla Dalals websites for N Indian recipes. Goodluck!
