Do Chinese movies (ie with Mandarin or Cantonese soundtracks) have English subtitles when they are screened here at the cinema?

you'd have to check with the specific cinema. their websites indicate if movies come in other languages or subtitles or what not. failing that you could also give them a call.

most chinese movies are with ENG subs
while
most eng movies are with CHI subs
