Trading European languages for Mandarin/Japanese

Hey there,
I am 29/m and trading European languages for Mandarin/Japanese (from scratch basically).
If you got a bit of background knowledge on grammatical issues, then all the better!
I tend to ask a lot of questions so we'd better know our adverbs from our adjectives...
it's not meant to be too formal though -
more like casual convo over dinner/drinks, definitely no linguistics course
