Singapore Expats

Hello,

Would like some ideas and feedback on where to live. I don't know Singapore that well outside of the tourist stuff.

I'll be staying in Singapore six months or more. I'll need to be taking taxi's and public transportation. My housing budget is SG$4,000 or less per month. Preferably much less but I know its expensive here. I'll need fully furnished and great internet. I would prefer a newer building.

Also must be walking distance to lots of places to eat and things to do. For this reason I love Orchard Road but it seems too expensive for my budget here? Are there similar areas or cheaper places to live on Orchard?



Any general areas you can recommend would be great - any specific developments would be even better.
