Iam an architect looking for art class on the weekends.

What kind of art class are you looking for? I used to attend oil painting classes but due to insufficent students, the teacher cancelled the class.
I would be interested to do oil painting again.

I would love to try oil painting.I havent done before.

We can try formign a group and hopefully we will have enough students to recontinue the class

FWIW, I used to do oil paintings but I focused later on with watercolors and now, digital paintings.

Oil painting is the hardest to master... even with practice...

Oil painting is the hardest to master... even with practice...
I actually don't find oil painting harder, since any mistake you make, you can just cover it up. Or in that you actually have better control of how to apply the paint. With watercolors, however, depending on style, you either have to chase the flow of water or wait for a section of paper to dry first.
FYI, I was too poor to buy supplies back then.

For me, I find it very difficult to capture the right texture... yes, you can keep covering with oil painting, it will become very thick and look too dense. At the same time, sometimes the oil paint crack after a few weeks... I am not sure if it is due to the humidity. Anyway, I just have to keep practicing!

you need either more linseed oil or better paint.

Too much linseed dilute the paint, which will cause cracking as well.
I don't spend $200/tube of paint, but I do think $30/tube is not exactly what I would call cheap paint?

my guess would then be how you apply your paint (in which linseed oil could still be factor). i have an oil painting i did more than 15 years ago with no fixative or any protective coating applied and no sign of cracking.
