Singapore Expats

I know someone here will be able to answer this.....

I have a bunch of video film of my children that I want to transfer to disc or hard drive.

I have looked this up on the interweb and every time that I go to a shop that says they can do it on the web, they can't when you actually go there. (There is a particular chain of local stores that are always guilty of this. ).

Does anyone know where I can get this done in Singapore please?

I personally have a old JVC deck that has firewire out that i can put my VHS and DVC tapes into for converting into my Mac.

it's pretty old now, not sure if they still make it or not.

I also recently bought my Mom a Sony DVDirect MC10. its really easy to use and was much cheeper than my JVC.

You might have more luck finding the Sony in SG.

SP - thanks for that but I was looking for the lazy way out by giving this to someone else to sort out for me.

There must be somewhere in Sing that offers this service.

I found 2-3 places in Sim Lim Square that will transfer the tapes to DVD but they were very expensive (and I had about 50 tapes to convert).
The cost was prohibitive. So, I did it myself. Took a long time (several weeks) but it was done right.
You may consider the same. Good luck.

So how can you do this without a video player?

I spent $200 in Sm Lim in the end but got all the tapes done onto DVD 3 times over so presents for Grandparents are done this year!
