Singapore Expats

We have a 21 month old and are expecting the next child at the end of May. My mum is coming over for a month from Australia to help out. I am tossing up between getting a full time helper or someone to come in 2-3 times a week for four hours or so at a time. Does anyone know if I can get someone to come in to help with some cleaning/cooking/possible help with outings? All the ads I see seem to suggest that only cleaning is done.
I don't know how I feel about having someone live with me full time. I also want my children to learn to do some things for themselves and genuinely can not work out what I would get a helper to do all day. I hate seeing the helpers around our condo slaving away doing unnecessary tasks just to fill in time.
I love playing with my son but also want him to have alone time, learning to play by himself at times.
I really need to make a decision soon and would love any advice anyone can offer. I'm sure I might be desperate for a helper when baby two comes!

Have you try going for nanny. ?

Live in maid will enroach into your personal space and sometimes can be difficult. Discuss with your hubby first then go from there. You may realise you do not need one if he chips in during your post natal period.
I did that for my wife and we have four kids . No maids , no help from MIL or my own mother, just try to work it out the best way to accommodate everyone.
I find having a maid can be counter productive.
