Singapore Expats

Hi there
Does anyone know who does motorcycle insurance for expats who have been here for less than 12 months.
We are looking at purchasing a scooter but would also want insurance before we ride around.

I use Liberty. Started on expat license and still use them 2 yrs later on sg license, still can't find a better policy for me, despite ringing round for two hours this afternoon!

Also Mitsui offer insurance in SG.
MISG (Aviva) too.

I found NTUC to be the cheapest for motorcycles.

I use Anda but have a Sg license. Their rates are very good, give a call to see if they do foreign lic holders.

actually i went to an insurance broker and end- up with liberty.
Paying about 600 S$ but for a 1000 ride.
And not too much questions, if i am expat, or sth like this stuff.
i received the same rate like the previous owner of my bike.
At the end, you shall fail to buy a scooter and get it registered in Singapore to ride without paying an insurance at first.
With the insurance paper than after you go to the LTA for the transfer of ownership.
Everything very easy and clearly organized, how it happens in Singapore.

NTUC does M/Cycle insurance for expats who have stayed less than 12 months in SG. AXA doesn't unfortunately, even though they are cheaper.

NTUC cost me ~200$ for my Bajaj Pulsar 180(2B bike), 5 years of overseas riding experience.

BTW, the way you have mentioned "would want insurance before we ride around". Its not a matter of choice, you have to get an insurance before you can register the bike in your name. Also, In Singapore the insurance is tied to the rider and the bike. You change bike, you change insurance and each rider on the bike needs his/her own insurance.

I just found that MSIG is cheaper by 12% compared to my NTUC insurance. NTUC premium is $187 with 10% NCD for 3rd party, 31 yr old rider riding a 2B bike. MSIG's premium is $163. The best thing is MSIG is ready to give me a 10% NCD if I show them the renewal notice from NTUC. Wonderful.

Do you guys reckon anyone else can better that?

I am looking to insure a Vespa LX150 as a newly qualified class 2B licence holder on EP, and based on the info above

NTUC did give me a quote, $707 for comp and $454 for 3rd party

Liberty said they don't insure this model (?)

ANDA/AXA said they insure only if you have 1 yr+ of riding experience

Anyone have any other suggestions of places to try?

I'm insured by ANDA. Had no riding experience, fresh 2B Singapore licence.....though had been here 11 months when I applied.

When came to claim, NTUC isn't that efficient.

I would say NTUC Income. They may have some of the cheapest insurances around for motorvehicles

+1 to direct - fill it outline and if you have a M/C pay online in monthly installments or one off. Print out your COI and you're done. No more ringing up moronic insurance companies.
