Hi folks - first post - whoop whoop!

I arrived from the UK last week with my boyfriend who is working. I have a visitors visa and am looking for work. I have a degree and TEFL and am making contacts and have some applications sent off. However, through research before I left the UK, I thought recruitment agencies would be happy to take you onto their books but am finding this isn't really the case. Is this just my experience or has anyone else found this? Any pointers would be much appreciated, am happy to do any work to get started. Thanks.

Hi - yes loads. Account management, call centre, BD, recruitment, welfare to work....

Quite True.....Recruitment Agencies doesn't really get back to me too. Maybe it's just me. Hahs.

But you should try skipping them altogether, Just contact the company you are interested in directly.

Certain company don't process online resumes or mailed in resumes as fast as if you appear in front of their faces. Happened to me once, went down and fish out my CV from the reception pile of papers. tsk tsk tsk

Don't give up on the recruiters. Yes, they have a different culture here and do not exactly give personalised service. But send them your CV and be on their database anyway. Nothing to lose. Also check out the newspapers, especially on saturdays. Write directly to employers whenever possible.
