Are looking at buying a condo but the kitchen is really poorly designed and the space allocation is not so "hot"

I need a good kitchen designer who can think a bit more out of the box.
Want a modern efficient kitchen but with a slight twist - using one or 2 new materials and somebody who really undersatnd what a cook needs...
I spend a lot of time in there!

Have seen loads of ads but nothing appeals to me.
Where do I even start?

Has anyone tried the Ikea service?
Trouble is I actually needed some specific cabinetry and housing made so don't think Ikea will be suitable. Am happy to use Ikea cupboards for majority if can find a good contractor though...

also need genereal contractor for other jobs such as lighting, painting and draining of existing fish pond and decking over....

all feedback welcome

The IMM building near Jurong house a number of renovation contractors and kitchen designers. I think there is one at Capitol too. Not sure . Try there and get a few quotes to compare

I put an IKEA kitchen into our B&W a few years ago. I too spend a lot of time in the kitchen and knew exactly what I wanted, so I really didn't need a designer. They have a nice little free program to help you plan out the cabinets that allows for 3D viewing and bird's eye ~ and lots of add-ons to really customize the space. It came out great and they were easy to deal with with two exceptions:

1. It's really hard to get people on the phone after the installation

2. There is a 10 year guarantee, but the cabinets do depreciate 10% per year, so we didn't opt to replace some of the doors which had cracked laminate.

I used granite on the counter tops and really nice faucets, not IKEA for those items.

I dealt with Peter Chua, he was excellent.

Good luck!

I recently hired Leonard from Koong Yee (www.koongyee.com.sg) to renovate my condo and he has done a great job so far. PM me for his mobile if interested.

You should seriously consider checking out http://www.dperception.com.sg/

Their quality is impeccable and personally used them to get my condo done up. Accommodate a lot of change requests and did a lot of them for free.

Highly recommended, check out their past work and credentials on their website.

Look up for Vera Poh she is the Director.
