Singapore Expats

Hey,
My friend and I are planning a weekend shopping trip to KL... (first time away from kiddies so want it to be worth while)...

I am wanting to know where the best malls are for inexpensive yet great clothes/underwear/shoes etc....???... and if you know of best hotels for location?

We dont care about specific labels but don't want the clothes to fall apart next week either.
Looking for two shopping experiences
1. Budget... ish (eg skirt /tops S$15-20 aprox)
2. Mid range...ish (eg, skirt / tops S$20-40)

Advice on where NOT to go too, eg if there is a really bad mall that is a waste of our precious day...

Any advice will be MUCH appreciated. If we find any hidden gems of places I'll report back!

If you can drive to KL will be best as it is easier to move around with a car. Be patient with the traffic though as it can get horrendous during evening time and after work.
Bukit Bintang Plaza, Sungei Wang Plaza is in one compound. Cheap and Good
If you are after some fake and reasonable watch, Chinatown/Chow Kit area.
From Bukit Bintang once you parked your car, you are in walking distance to Debenham, Lot 1 and the rest

Sungei Wang is the place to go, and you can also get bargains if you look around the main shopping centres - KLCC Suria mall in the twin towers, the Pavillion shopping centre and also times square. Also try some of the smaller plaza's littered around the golden triangle area for a good selection.

For hotels - there are so many to choose from, use asiarooms.com and look for anything on Jalan Sultan Ismail or Jalan Bukit Bintang and the shopping mecca will be on your doorstep. In fact you can go as far as Jalan Ampang, which has a good selection of hotels, as taxi's in KL are really cheap and there are plenty of them. Just insist on using the meter as the taxi drivers try to price every journey at 15MYR whether its 2 minutes or 15 minutes!!

Sungei Wang is cheap but the range is like Bugis Village. If you want something unique and stylish, you can try MidValley Megamall and Lot1 is great too for more upclass local designers. KLCC is rather international in their line of clothes, maybe 1 or 2 local designer collections.

Federal , Melia , Plaza, reasonable

Good one, Marriot , Ritz Carlton,

Equatorial , Shang-ri La, Season slightly further but nearer to Petronas Twin Tower and Menara KL. Close to Bistros and the happenings like Hard Rock Cafe.

Mid Valley and Berjaya Mall is huge. So if you are driving please pay attention to where you park your car.
Mid Valley is in PJ , you need to drive or grab a cab or train. Berjaya is walking distance to BB and SW

If they are hiring a car and driving to KL, you think they'll be able to drive from KLCC to Mid Valley without getting lost and ending up miles away??!! No chance!! I used to make that trip to my girlfriends place a few times a week and got lost 75% of the time!!

Get a taxi ladies.......
