Damage during boat shipment

The movers are coming next week to pack up our boat cargo. Other than the obvious stuff (flammables, etc) is there anything you would not recommend bringing? A friend had mentioned that photo albums might not do so well with the potential for high heat over several weeks. That started me thinking that there may be other things that would be better left behind. Does anyone know whether photo albums should be ok? Any tips or experience to share would be great.

Pure nonsense unless it is exposed in direct heat. Your stuff will be in container , right ? It will be in cartons and boxes. I moved from SG to Sweden and it took 2 months, everything was OK. You need to packed your stuff properly and discard all presurrised cans and flammable items

Dunno, last freight from SG to Europe I had a can of Lyle's Golden Syrup that is now almost black like treacle. I reckon our container was on top and got well fried!
p.s. On which note I'd never try and import a wine cellar/collection to SG. Yeah pay what $100 a bottle duty on your bordeaux, to receive the highest class trans-continental vinegar? ... nope, don't think so!

We shipped everything to Switzerland in containers without a hitch. We had some inexpensive wine which we shipped as well and we were surprised that they turned out fine...

Have your clothes vacuum packed, especially from a colder / drier climate to hot / humid Asia.
We have a few cases from some Japanese expats, where moisture / mold was found on jackets with the covers on and also in shoe boxes when we checked.
Once these items are damp or with moisture from the start, the shipping transit time and the heat, would be enough to grow these molds and spread to your new home here.

As to the importation of wine, I shipped the bulk of of my collection with no problem. It has to be packed properly and you need to check with your shipper about this.
Duty is roughly 10 Sgd per litre, or 7.50 per bottle, though believe the calculation has changed recently . It's certainly not $100 per bottle.
