anyone have any experience with it? Pros/cons.

can you watch netflix on it? so far I've not found anything that will show netflix online over here.

To get Netflix here you need to download a VPN. This will allow you to log on to a US server. I use Witopia because its very easy. There are several free ones online but they are a little complicated.

I believe they only sell the old Apple TV in Singapore, so you'd need to get it from abroad.

Personally you should find most of what you're looking for in iTunes. Plus you can also order from Amazon.co.uk where the prices will drop upon checkout as they deduct the 20% GST for orders going outside the EU.

aster Netflix and iTunes are two completely different things. Netflix you pay 8US dollars a month and watch all of the movies or TV shows that you want. Hulu is another good one (also $8). We have both because TV in Singapore Sux.
You cannot get this service outside of the US unless you are logged in to a US server. You cannot log in to a US server without VPN.

You will not get Netflix or Hulu on Apple TV no matter where you bought it because if in Singapore it will still be going through a Singapore server.

Trust me on this one.

Sorry, what I means was that you can probably get most of your stuff without using Netflix, not that you can get Netflix using Apple TV.

I haven't tried Netflix yet but are we talking about streaming content or can you download it to your hard drive?

There is a small download but its just something to allow you to logon. The programs are streaming but it works pretty well. The picture quality is much better than our sling box but not as good as something that you down load from iTunes.
The biggest advantage is that usage is unlimited.
You are correct in saying that you can get almost anything that you want from iTunes but for a price. We still use it but for your daily TV Netflix works pretty well for us.

We are running an Apple TV and watch Netflix, NHL Hockey, stream newer movies using the apple store.
Secret is to purchase a Sabai VPN router (delivered within 2 days DHL, no duty) and strong vpn.

Works fantastic.

We've two Apple TVs brought in from the States. Through Starhub we download American tv shows and rent movies regularly. You need a credit card with a US address for the US iTunes store. But no VPN necessary. Not quite as wide a movie selection as Netflix but easy to use and operate and all the tv shows.

Netflix and iTunes are two different things, that is correct. However, you CAN get Netflix through AppleTV (not iTunes). See http://www.apple.com/appletv/#netflix

And as others have pointed out, you can access Netflix if you have a VPN.

A lot of us are using My Republic or View Quest as our ISPs (if your place has fiber connectivity). They transparently do this for your whole connection. Works great for ChromeCast/Apple TV. Check the Computer sub-forum here, there are a few topic on it.

ViewQwest rocks, I am cancelling all other tv channels as I no longer need them with Netflix and Hulu available to me on tap

Go get ViewQwest fibre and "freedom VPN" which is their bundled product of which zzm talks of.

I assume that if you use a service like MyRepublic to access Netflix via AppleTV, you pay your netflix subscription via your Apple ID?
If your Apple ID has a Singapore based credit card and address, will it still work if your IP appears to be in the US?

You use a separate NetFlix subscription even via AppleTv. You just log in to it one time and it saves the Netflix username and password.
