Where's it all happenin' in the Woodlands area?

Keen to check out Woodlands due to the location of the school, but want to focus on where people can go after work/school, etc. So basically where people hang out, do their shopping, wine & dine. Is there any central spot there where it all happens?

And what are the current/previous main expat hangouts apart from Causeway Point?

So like where would everyone he heading to locally on a Saturday afternoon? Which are the busy spots?

1. Causeway Point is still under massive renovation as we speak and it looks like it will not end within this year.
2. You can try Woodgrove area where there is a couple of pubs in a not-so-tight environment with plenty of trees (and mosquitos to swat away)
3. Personally, I rather drive down along Sembawang Road and Upper Thomson Road where I can have more choice of hangouts.

Oh sorry I missed this one.
Well if you're looking for somewhere busy, you can try SSC along Sembawang Road or Northpoint near Yishun MRT (I prefer SSC by the way).
By the way, I used to stay in Woodlands for the last 2 years until I moved to Dover recently.

Thanks for the info, so if I wanted to spend an evening out drinking beer in bars/pubs, then where would be my best bet? Or do people from the vicinity simply flock to Johor?

Actually you are right. Johor would be the cheaper option (with more choices too) but I wouldn't recommend you going there. Even as a Malaysian, I find it scary to patron there without a SWAT team with me.
Anyway for the hassle and the distance to Johor, you may as well head down to Sembawang Road, Upper Thomson Road or even Upper Bukit Timah Road.

I live in sembawang.
Go up to sembawang way, pass sembawang mrt on your right, then through canberra link, traffic light turn left at sembawamg road, go straight, after admiralty road east, there are a few watering holes on the right. Don't eat at the restaurant at the end, they chop your wallet nice nice. Drink beer only it's ok.
If you turn left at admiralty road east, and then the first left at Pakistan Road, there's a club that serves some american food. Lots of ang moh hang out there. Food good or not I don't know la. I've seen the menu, nothing to shout about, burger and fried steak, i think.
Opposite SSC, there are quite a few restaurants. There's a white mee hoon place which is quite popular with the locals. On the left, there's a curry fish head place, very good.
If you go further up to upper thomson road, there's a fantastic nasi lemak place called Kukus. And also a damn good roti chanai place at the end of the row.
