Travel with Domestic Helper

What are the complications with travel, if any? We would love to go to Thailand and a few other places. Would we be allowed to travel with our domestic helper if she would be willing? (we have not hired yet, our move takes place in August) What about trips back to the US? If my husband is not able to travel with me I would love to have some help with my kids, and I would provide a a seperate room. Is this legal?

Bringing your helper with you on trips is not unheard of. For ASEAN nations, if she's from ASEAN too, no problem. For the US, I'm not sure of the details but yes, people do it (check visa requirements, of course). And be sure she gets to enjoy the trip as well.

Thank you for your response. It is uncommon for people to travel with maids? or it is uncommon for people to travel to the US with maids?

I corrected my post; expat families sometimes
do travel with their maids.

We travelled with our helper, to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and friends have taken them to Bali and Japan.
But UK had restriction, they had to be employed for over a year or maybe 2 and had to fill in a shed load of forms one of which state she knows the minimum wages are law in the UK.
It was impossible to take a helper to the US, (We have British passports)
