I am soon going to relocate to S and find a place to live.
Where are good places for jogging in S (parks, forest??? (I don't think so)?
Well, I was never jogging in 30C and S humidity, so this question might be completely hypothetical!! :)

There are many jogging parks located in Singapore and quite a number of them are equipped with fitness stations as well.

You can go to http://www.nparks.gov.sg and search under "parks & gardens".

All the best! :D

which are on west?

Thanks a lot!
I have checked that website before but it was difficult for me to find out the answer... as I dont know where those parks are located.
I will probably be living in the West of S.

Also, when I read that activities allowed are e.g. roller-blading... I hope this does not exclude jogging? In general, how long are the trails?

A stupid question, but when does it get dark in S? My colleague told me sunset/sunrise is 7 all year long... is this true?

Last but not least: is entry free to these parks?
How about Fort Canning park? Do I have to pay, can I jog there and how long is the track?

i stay in the west , so i know some nice places like bukit batok nature reserve, many people go there to exercise during the morning and weekends. little gulin in bukit gombak..etc.. there are some places to jog or cycle but the place has no name, people go there for fruit plucking. yup, it gets dark around 7pm. u dun have to pay at fort canning park to jog unless u want to jog in the wax museum( there u have to pay i think). :)

Haha, that was funny!

I live in the east so I can't comment much on the jogging parks in the west. Maybe 'hello' should give 'guest' a tour. :D

Hey "guest" when are you moving to singapore?
I live just west of the city and am looking for people to run with (I am a horrible self motivator). Let me know if you are interested in training together.

Depends on what sort of running you like to do, flat road running or trail running? I run at Bukit Timah Nature reserve, good trail run, about 6-7km, with some steep hills. For flatter areas you could perhaps try West Coast park. You can also try McRitchie Resevoir (more central), has variuous trails mostly flat up to about 11km. If you are super keen runner you can run from Bukit Timah to Mc Ritchie. McRitchie and Bukit Timah have nice rainforest that keeps it marginally cooler. To beat the heat you need to start running by 7.30-8.00am, or earlier. If you run in the evening, obviously choose the flatter places that are well lit to run.

soon visiting!!

At home I run about 6-8 km, flat areas. But why not trying something else.

I am visiting Sing soon, so will check out the Bukit Timah and MacRitchie... if I like those, I want to find accommodation (condo or twondhouse) nearby.
Any recommendations of nice places near these?

If I lived near Holland Village, how long would it take me by bus to get to Bukit Timah and MacRitchie?

Holland Village would be a good choice. About 15min t McRitchie on the bus, i think bus number 165. Probably the same distance in the other direction to Bukit Timah. Holland Village is also pretty good as there are lots of shops/restaurants/bars there, only 15min by bus to Orchard Rd. Bukit Timah is a little too far out in my opinion. Good luck.
