Singapore Expats

Hola,

Just got myself certified on Gili Air (gorgeous island) for Open Water and would like to do a trip to Perhentian over a weekend, sometime in August/early September.

I reckon some of you here might have been there before. I've gathered information I need for transportation but I'd like to know more about accommodation on Pulau Kecil, especially the backpackers area (Longbeach). I dont need anything too luxurious or fancyful as long as there are no bedbug issue. Most of the guesthouses I've checked does not do advance booking - for those who've been there, did you just walk-in? Or any guesthouse that's not too expensive and I can book in advance?

Out of interest what transport arrangements would you suggest for a weekend there?

Do they publish the ferry times?

Its possible to take a bus or a train. But I did not find out the latter.

You can take a bus to Jerteh bus station from Lavender street. If online information are right it usually leaves 7.30pm, which is why good for a weekend getaway. From Jerteh, take taxi/public bus to Kuala Besut. The speed boat timings - some said it leaves as soon as there are enough people on the boat, some said its every hour from as early as 8am to 5pm or something.
