Your request is very difficult to be met as most agents are linked to insurance companies. On top of them they do not have fixed income hence their commission is their livelihood. Therefore they will push down your throats their product to you.
Being ex-Malaysian does not mean the insurance agent will be clean and do it for free.Everyone has to earn a living, don't you think ?
Even if you were to go direct to the insurance companies, they will definitely pass you to an agent as insurance companies do not deal with individuals directly. You may want to try with those insurance brokers but yet again the whole cycle repeats itself.

Independent or Tied does not matter anymore. MAS now monitor agents based on conduct. So message is clear, the integrity of the person is more important.

I guess it'll be hard to find someone of your exact requirements, because as another member mentioned, most people are tied to a institution these days.
