Singapore Expats

We might be moving to Singapore in the near future and just wondering if it's okay to bring wall paintings and photos or will they be ruined? We've lived in the southeastern US and it's humid there and we never had problems with these items, but I keep reading about all these issues with Singapore. Any advice?

Unless framed under UV-proof glass you will have to hang anything of value well away from any windows, or it will bleach.

Some of my pictures got a few mould spots, both on the pictures and mounts. But luckily anything of real value was left in storage in the UK.

Personally I find the framing in Singapore not so professional as in Europe, I haven't been able to locate a framer with a suction unit, and my posters i have had 30 years, are badly framed. I would have expected them to have fixed them so they didn't show any rippling considering i paid European prices. The humidity does effect them, and I have seen some mild spotting after 6 years here sadly!
The backing needs to be protected from humidity from the walls which absorb moisture, normally wood backing otherwise mold will get in more quickly

We have some photos and paintings here (European made) and generally there is no problem with the mold. Photos if BW or color but traditionally processed have some colloidal silver or some silver irons are present and this can be mildly fungicidal or fungistatic - I guess this helps. Paper also often contains some of fungicidal agent. Generally the problems with mold starts here when there it is dark, not well ventilated space (room, closet) and there are some traces of nutrients on the surface. Things like leather, both natural and artificial are from my experience the primary target. Pictures are typically placed on the walls and made visible so in rather bright and spacious / aired areas.
