Hello everyoneme

Me and my familly currently moved to singapore 6 mnths ago from uk we managed to get our 6 yr old into a lovley local school ( he loves it and doing so well ) we are really struggling to get our teenage daughter age 14 into a school its getting very stressful ... pls has any one any advice or know of any good home tutors ENGLISH/MATHS/SCIENCE.. PLS GET IN CONTACT ..

Also any clubs or ideas how she can make new friends out here !!!

The UK Girl Guides are big here in Singapore, sorry I don't have their contact details. Plus, classes like guitar and dancing are CHEAP at your local Community Center (People's Association). There is also a very large homeschooling community here that you can tap into while you're waiting. Since she's 14, you might consider some more college aged courses. I know a few schools/colleges enroll students as young as 14.

Did she take the entrance exam for local school? What secondary schools have you tried? Did you approach them directly? Give them a call, and go visit with them. Once they see you and have a chat I think they'll be more helpful. You might also consider an integrated school or independent school. I do have a contact at a local secondary school near Clementi if it's anywhere near you.

Hi there. What's the reason they gave for rejecting your application? Usually, international students need to sit for the PACT test to determine their abilities before posting them to the schools and standards. Certain schools in Singapore will also come up with their own tests.

Have you tried the national exams? If you haven't, don't fret. Here's two options you may consider if your child have not find a place in local schools:

Option A:
Signup the Feb/ March AEIS, the Ministry Of Education will allocate a school for your child nearest to your home if your child pass the exams.

Option B:
Participate in the PACT exams. If your child pass this exam, take the results to the relevant schools listed on the web which will accept the exam results

Hi I have a teenage daughter too (15), who is currently at a local school. She has just finished her first year there, and about to start her second year.
My daughter sat the AEIS test, and the MOE allocate a school for pupils depending on the results of the test.
Look on the MOE website for info, as someone has also posted that there is now test in March, usually they are only in October.
Happy to supply any further info if I can help in any way. We have been here 18 months now, moved from Scotland, so know how difficult the transition can be.
