Hi,

I wonder if someone can help. I have a sling box connected to my Sky box in the UK. I have a sling catcher connected to my tv this end. Would it be possible to stream the content of my Sky box here and then save it for viewing later. If I view it whilst it streams there is the chance that the program will be ruined by stuttering streaming.

Any advice gratefully received.

how about getting a sky+ or use sky go?

Not really sure how that would help. I have a sky box in the UK that my sling box is connected to. How would I control a streamed download on to one here?

sky+ is a sky box + PVR, so you would use that to do your recording. yes, slightly different to what you want to download it to SG.

or if you want to let your hair down and get your hands dirty, you could setup a PC in UK connected to the broadband and install get_iPlayer. using rtmpdump, you can get the mp4 files (H.264) from iPlayer that is intended for iPhone. to get the mp4 files to you in SG, you could upload it to the cloud and then download it in SG or do a direct file copy from UK to SG using ssft. with ssft, you will need to setup port forwarding on the broadband router in UK.

and lastly, you will need to install logmein so that you can remote control the PC in UK to select what you want to download from iPlayer.

a typical 1 hour mp4 file such as top gear would be about 300+mb in size. let me know if you want to download the mp4 file if you think the quality is good enough.

if you are still using a slingbox classic , you can try using Applian At Large 2 to record
