Singapore Expats

hi, anyone knows an affordable place to charter a yacht for approx 7 hours? my birthday is coming up and im looking to take 40-50 friends out for a party which includes bbq, lotsa drinks and plenty of fun on board. all suggestions are welcome.

An LST or a sandbarge?

30-40m+ yacht for a day... I reckon.

sandbarge should do. anything really that holds upto 40 pple, n u can cruise around for a party.

But (sorry there had to be one), I wonder if barges are licensed to be 'party boats'.

Around 40 years ago, we took an old surplus railroad barge and fitted it with a outboard propulsion unit that resembled a 5 m tall outboard motor (671 GM Diesel connected to a outboard motor leg that would reach all the was down to the water. We used it, coupled with an old P&H mobile crane we refurbished and build a hammer slide and went into the dock building business around the river where we lived. This was pretty neat and you could cruise around or nose it up onto the beach kind of like a LST only you needed a pretty long ladder to climb up the side of the barge like that, at the farm, we just pullup up alongside of the dock and tied 'er up. I reckon she was around 70 or 80' x around 30' in beam with a shallow draft of only around 1.5-2'

Hmm $13,000 for 50 people before ++, F&B, Service staff...for four hours.

Yacht and "affordable"don't go in the same sentance!

Yeah, yachts are bottomless holes in the water that you just pour money into.

Yes well, refer to my earlier post on this thread.

Might be worth dropping by local yacht clubs and seeing if you could agree a private/direct charter. It still wouldn't be cheap, but probably cheaper than those linked above.

by affordable i was hoping it would be below 3k, i didnt expect it to be really cheap. thanks for the tip on yachtlongranger

Erm, I think you need to realign your expecations. Take for example the BBQ and lotsa drink part...most places are going to ask in excess of $100 per head for free-flow...thats already >$5000 for 50 pple. Then add your yacht charter on top of that!
