Singapore Expats

I'm a Ph.D. economist with hedge fund experience, hoping to relocate to Singapore from Miami.

I'm hoping for an analytical position, either macro or risk/investment analysis. I assume these are fairly hard to come by these days, but that's just my guess.

I wanted to ask if anybody has advice where/how to go about the job search. I assume recruiters are the first step? And is there any use going to the job sites? I fear they might just be noise-producers for the hiring staff, but I could be wrong. Any recommendations or advice much appreciated.

May or may not be relevant, but I do speak fluent Japanese (JPLT-1), and am open to anywhere in the region (HK, Tokyo, Shanghai, Jakarta, etc), so if you do hear of something, again, I'd much appreciate.

Why not start looking in the IB here? Then during interview, you let them know you want to relocate.

My friend works for a big IB and is currently relocate to Singapore temporary.

That is one way to do it. I have been down that road, years ago, and ended up in Brazil then Mexico (aiming for Japan). Firm's most urgent need and all. So this time around I figure I'll cut to the chase, geographically.
