What do you use your laptop for?

Since you have had yours for 4 years and haven't replaced it yet i'm guessing you do not do much high power stuff.

To be honest I would recommend switching to a MacBook Air. I picked one up this year (after a long time of swearing blind i would not touch MacOS) and I haven't looked back.

It's better than any Windows based netbook I have used and is extremely light with great build quality.

If you are planning for any high performance gaming / processing then obviously you should stick with a higher end laptop, but for day to day browsing / emailing / film watching / document creation etc you can't go far wrong.

i would look at an asus eepc netbook. I have one of these, an msi netbook, and an android tab, and these are by far the best.

Install Ubuntu linux on it to dual boot (incredibly easy to do) and its heaps light, boots in seconds, and shuts down in seconds.
I only have a windows PC now for gaming, Linux i would use for everything else.
