Singapore books?

Can anyone recommend some books related to Singapore? Something that can help one learn about SG's culture, lifestyle, history, etc. Can be fiction or non fiction. Just looking for some good reads that will help me learn a little more about life in SG.

Take a look at books by Neil Humphreys which details his experience of arriving and living in Singapore in a humorous way. I actually found his first book "Notes From An Even Smaller Island" a good comical read but not to everyone's taste.

There's always the Culture Shock series. :p Culture Shock: Singapore is on it's 2nd edition.
There's a local comic book series called The Resident Tourist by Troy Chin. It's written from the perspective of a Singaporean who has been away too long and is rediscovering his own country.

You could of course also read Hard Truths, which will help explain the unplanned journey the author has taken this year.

I just finished The Singapore Grip which is a novel about Colonial Singapore a few years before WW2.

How about Makansutra? since food is Singapore's culture.
Every branch of the library in SG has a local books collection as well.

Lee Kuan Yew's memoirs are a great read.
