diving in Singapore / Malaysia this 2 - 3 months?

Hi!
It's now the north east monsoon so diving is not ideal in some areas but is there anywhere else suitable for this few months?
i'd be glad to join groups that have diving plans as well!!

I'd normally expect the diving to be fine until at least end Oct, but of course this varies year to year. The place I dive stays open to 15th Nov.
Most east coast dive staff either take holiday during monsoon, or work elsewhere. Many work that season in Thailand so that might be a starting point to look at.

I am going to Indonesia this weekend and Thailand next month. I think there are so many places in the region that it's pretty easy to find some good one any time of the year.

i am looking to get my advanced OW during Chinese New Year break. Is there anyone wants to come together?
Tioman, Koh Pipi or Koh Tao are all good.

Tioman will be to all intents and purposes closed for diving over CNY 2012 (I think there is one shop called Eco Divers that stays open over monsoon, but in my opinion you'd really be playing roulette with the likely conditions so early in the year).

not worth going to Tioman during the monsoon. local dive operators have alternative locations during this season.
i'm done with aow but don't worry about not getting anyone to join you. there'll be other folks taking the course if you sign up with any of the local shops.

Not done but understand it's not great. Go to the other side of Borneo, Tawau (and Sipidan)... now

Agreed. Tried the marine park off Kota Kinabalu where Manukan island etc was. Nothing except dead corals and few clown fish. No thanks to high traffic of tourists (who throng from Mount Kinabalu hike mission) and sadly most of them do not have the common sense NOT to step on them.
Head over to Sipadan - highly recommended - or to Mata King nearby for unspoiled version. Do you know that off Sipadan, there are smaller islands (one of them is Tiga island) which were used as location for the very first Survivor reality TV series?
