Living near Tanah merha / One world school

Good morning / evening to you all,
My kids are starting here in the New Year so next step is looking for accommodation in the area. Can anyone with kids at this school share their thoughts on any decent
condo's / cluster houses in the area please.

limiting your audience there somewhat asking for people with kids in that school in particular!
I have kids (not at that school) and live in the area near the school you are looking at, do you want to hear from me??? I assume yes...
What do you want from a place? There are a few
condos etc around there.
Casa Merah is new and nice (it has ovens in the units!)
East Meadows is older (no oven) nice facilities, LOADS of kids
The Bayshore (I looked at one unit a year back, didn't like it, too close to the MRT line - very noisy)
Tana Merah Crest - u the hilll, can be a killer in the heat walking from the bus or train, well priced, nice facilities.
D'Manor - pricey, but big units, they tend to get Dengue all the time (not sure why)
Summer Gardens - rarely up for rent, but the houses are really nice - I've heard rumors it may be going for en block soon though
Sunhaven is nice, slightly out of the way for travel, but REALLY close to the pool, the penthouse units are lovely, the prices are cheap and the bus service from there is really good.
I have been to and have friends in most of the above.
I live in Casa Merah with my two kids (4 and 5 years old) they love water so the pool is the best thing about it for them.

lukeduke I do have a child at OWIS and we live at DManor cluster. There are 3 or 4 families here from the school. We really enjoy it. Its only a short walk to the MRT, but We have so far chosen to be car-less and it means we put our son on the school bus which runs about 400 per term. If you have a car , its only2.7 km from here. The community around Dmanor is lovely, lots of poolside fun, and parties for different events, such a s Halloween coming up. Have heard no news of dengue (that's scary Richie!) but the aunties living around me are quick t point out if there's standing water etc. My only complaint about here is the 4 levels of living!!! It's exhausting. Excellent if you need the extra space and have lots of visitors. prices run on average 5.8k - 6.5 k and aren't very negotiable at this stage. It's worth a look if you are at OWIS. good luck and hope to see you by the pool. Rob. See u soon Rich!

Condo floor plan - what do those letters mean?

I saw some floor plans from searching some
condos on this website.
What do these letters mean:
H/S, PES, W, F
A/C this must be air conditioning, but what does it mean actually?
Yard: yard in the kitchen??
I contacted an agent through this forum and asked the above questions, she just ignored me, are agents really not helpful?
Now, I tried to do a REPLY, why does it not work? What is the proper procedure to do this?

F would probably be Furnished, PES - Physical Employment Status - usually has a letter along with it... for instance PES F, means unfit for service, H/S I think means Half Size, someone can confirm, but it's basically a small additional room not fit for a bedroom, kind of like a maids room... I have no idea what W means.

It will mean Air con is installed in the property (some older HDBs do not have aircon, as with some older apartments)

This is an outdoor area where you will probably have a washing machine and drying area, yes it's normally in the kitchen next to the Maids room, not in all properties though.

Depends, if you are paying them they can be helpful, but if you aren't paying them and just after information they can be very unhelpful. Differs from agent to agent I guess, you'll see a lot of complaints agents on the forum, they are a necessary evil, like anywhere

A REPLY? is this on the Property page? Maybe one fo the people from this area can assist with it.

Since you live in Casa Merah, may be you know what that round thing is above the Yard ?
It makes it much simpler since you post the link and since I can relate it to my place
PES is your balcony, or if it's Ground Floor this is a Patio, if a Penthouse, then it's uncovered.
F is the Fridge.
HS is your bombshelter/storage/maids room, yes, it has no windows! The place you are looking at is a pure 2 bed unit, the last "room" is only used as a maids room or storage.
The round thing above the Yard (which is indoors incidentally, but still has a washer and drying area) is ducting I think and runs above the ceiling! Also, that's where your drying rack sticks out the window. L is useless cupboard unless you put some shelves in it.

No, that's where they keep the A/C compressors (the big units that sit outside) so that's the A/C ledge - Not somewhere I would recommend going out to for a smoke nor anything else actually

PES - Personal Enclosed Space, e.g. Patio
W - Washing machine water point
F - Fusebox or could be fridge area

condo? Do they have a recycling program?

Yeah, that would make sense, it is indeed the rubbish shute!
Recycling is coming into play in Singapore more now, with landed properties (read houses) getting a second blue bin to put recyclable waste in. The condo you are looking at, you chuck all your rubbish (non recyclable) down the chute through a trapdoor in the wall, this is standard through most
condos and HDB. The rest of your waste you take down to the carpark and put in a large blue bin that gets sorted by the recycling folk. That's about as much as I know!
Home Shelter? - It has a big thick metal door with many bolts around it, a bit like a cell/safe, it wouldn't make a great office IMO, no natural light, yes it can get hot I imagine, but it's got to be better than a roll mat under the dining table/kitchen floor for the maid (don't laugh, I am perfectly serious).
Washer can of course mean washer dryer, personally we dry all our clothes out the window or on the balcony, it's much fresher. But a lot of locals get a dryer cause they think it's quicker and better etc. - Don't agree!

Adr, note the quoted floorspace will include both the terrace and air-con ledge. The double bed might be a 3/4 size one, and drawn to scale.
(Just mentioning as in many many countries external areas are not included in the floor area)
