Baking in Singapore

I am more than thrilled - we found a place with a "working" oven. I love to bake and this move gives me an opportunity to learn new recipes and try them.

Are there any tips/advise/suggestions for baking in Singapore? Where does one by the ingredients - beyond the usual CareFour. Any specialty shops I should check out?

Any classes on Asian Baking that I could try? I also want to learn cake decoration - any classes on the same?

Thanks

My wife goes to PhoonHuat regularly next to East Point Mall. It's kind of like me walking into Funan for her, she loves it!

Really good shop, some well priced stuff there (some expensive)

Yeah, they are all over the island. I use the one in Hougang.

Also, for anything kitchen, check out Totts. Guaranteed you will spend more than you intended to!

Support Phoon Huat too! They have a wide range of stuff. The one at Geylang area do conduct baking classes. However, need to register early to avoid disappointment!

Totts also conduct classes. You may check out their website for the dates.

Phoon Huat (a.k.a. The Red Man Shop) is THE place.
I am (happy) customer for 13 years (they started opening branches all over the place only after that).

For something a bit more on the industrial side, try Sia Huat in Chinatown. Fantastic store for cooks.
