Wood flooring

Hi all,

I need some advice on wooden flooring. We have a few water stains which has caused the wood to darken. We need to get it fixed before we leave back to Australia in 3 weeks. I have called a few places to get some quotes and they asked me to email them pictures of the stains but I am yet to hear from them. I am wanting to get quotes before getting anyone over so I was hoping if anyone else would know rough prices? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Donna =)

Get some furniture oil and do it yourself!

I don't think it will work with the oil. If the stains are very severe the whole floor should be sanded. This will cost ~$200-400 for a small room. If the damage is not that bad you can try to sand it locally just to remove the layer of the damaged lacquer. Later you put some varnish over it but all this is pretty tricky. To have a good match with the rest of the floor also in terms of gloss is one problem and the sanded wood often darkens when treated with a varnish.

Thanks for the replies! One of the stains is quite bad, resulted from a bathing suit being left there for a very long time so it's even indented on the flooring. Can anyone recommend a good and affordable company?

Just get a quote from a few people but dont bother to try and get it polished out, as sure as night follows day the local landlord will do it again and deduct the price from the deposit. So you end up paying twice.

At least you have a ball park cost in your head.
