Singapore Expats

Hi,
looking to move to Singapore next month. Rents are quite mad and condos are easily 5k a month for a 3 bedder.
Does anybody know good HDB apartments that have condo-like facilities on the east coast (preferably near MRT).

I think that's an oxymoron, i.e. it doesn't exist.

You could try and find an HDB block near facilities like a public swimming pool...

The whole point the Condo is more expensive than an HDB is the facilities, if an HDB had facilities then it would be more expensive, therefore, you'd rather go for a condo (right?)

You can get 3 bed condos for less than 5K depending on the area you are looking! Where are you looking and what is your budget?

Newer and more modern HDB closer it gets with the price to a condo. Then you also have so called executive condos that are of worse quality and slightly lower prices comparing to the regular ones - afterall they are developed by HDB.

Yeah but what ever type of HDB, they still don't have condo facs do they?

EC do have condo facs.

1st owner of EC need to stay for 5 yrs to meet the MOP.
After that, if they want to sell. They only can sell to PR or citizen.
10 yrs onward then it will be like condo. Can sell to non-PR.

Yeah, the EC is what I meant...I was told they are close to condos in terms of facilities and a bit cheaper to rent.

My budget is around 4K mark. Looking for a 3 bedder. 3 bed + study would be even better. School is on the east coast so would prefer something close to school.

Also after something which is not too noisy. Hows Tanah Mera .

And HDB, whether or not, EC, will be noisy as it's the nature of Government Housing dwellers for the most part.

That's not very PC lol

There was a post from Tanah Merah a little while back there are a few good condos there and the rental is not bad, it's close enough to East Coast and right next to an MRT station, you'd be fine there!

I'm not a very PC individual.

I tend to call a spade a shovel! I've lived in an HDB estate for the past 13 years and all of my rellies do as well, all are the same with the same complaints.

I'm actually Jurassic PC but the entire rest of the household is MAC. But as I have the router/modem in my office at home, when they get up my nose, I just remove their MAC addresses from the router for a while. I don't use WEP but use MAC address filtering instead. Poetic Justice?
