Interfaith Relationships

Aloha!
I'm an American student (from, ah, Hawaii) on my first visit to Singapore. I'm working with a group of Singaporeans from the Chapman Film program associated with Ngee Ann Poly to make a documentary in two weeks. (The final cut is due the day after Chinese New Year.

)
Our group got into a discussion about marriage between religions here, and how hard it is to find successful Muslim/non-muslim couples in particular. We'd like to do our doc on this topic, and what challenges they face in making the relationship work. Do you convert? Does conversion mean abandoning your original culture? How about your family? There are a lot of questions.
I stumbled on this forum while researching, and saw the topic on muslim girlfriends. We hadn't even thought about the foreigner dimension! Would any expats here who are in an interfaith relationship with a Singaporean be interested in helping us out?
Hope this isn't too much of an ad. I'm just not sure where else to go, since we need to finalize our proposal by Monday.

Thought I'd make an open call. My email is
[email protected]. My producer's name is Ying Ying, and her email is
[email protected].
It really is kind of hard trying to work in a place where you don't know anyone. XD I've got no contacts here lol.

If you really stumbled across that thread, and read through the entire thing, you'd have gotten most of your answer (judging from what you're looking for). Because in that thread alone, almost all the issues and aspects concerning Muslim/non-Muslim relationship have been bared.
Is this the thread you said you saw?

I'm a "freethinker" (agnostic, since I view Atheism as its own religion in a sense), and my wife is Buddhist. I imagine that won't be very interesting for film though

Yes. The thread was really helpful as background research, but my team is actually hoping for someone willing to share their experiences on camera. We'd really like for someone who has been in an interfaith relationship to share their experiences directly with the audience. It will look kind of odd and improbable if we try to pose as the experts ourselves, after all.

Yeah, we were kind of hoping to focus on muslim/non-muslim relationships since there is so much pressure to convert. All of my singaporean group mates also say that most muslim interfaith couples that they know break up before they get to marriage. The muslim girls then marry muslim guys.

as you are trying to work on the muslim/non-muslim area, you are treading on very scary territory ...

For any 'relationship' to truly work it must be unconditional....so what has faith/religion got to do with it?
Of course it might have a lot to do with it, if you want to partake in a controlled relationship?

Just saw this lol...
I think I said everything I have to say in that other thread. I'm here to be part of this forum and am really not interested in going off and making videos (even if the OP wished to visit Germany where I am currently holed up for a while longer!)
It's a tricky subject I think. Not that I won't talk about it, more like I can no longer be bothered to. I have my situation sorted out, and am tired of discussing it and being told how challenging it surely must be, and all the obstacles I must face.... I don't.
Yawn!
