Is there anywhere in Singapore that you can buy already cut and prepared packaged vegetables?
It is so frustrating and time consuming to have to buy the entire vegetable when cooking- having to peel, cut.... especially for meals like a stir fry
thanks

If you are that lazy, just eat out at a hawker stall. They'll do your peeling for you.

Its not laziness just about having limited time as I have a newborn.
In most countries the supermarkets sell lovely pre packed veges which are great for convenient cooking

Hmmm, you think the issue to why you are so busy is peeling potatoes and that travelling half the island to find them will help you out?
So, if you have travel 30 minutes to get prepacked veggies and only 10 to get non prepacked, is this really saving you time?

So called organic food is often pre-packed and can be bought from CS and such. You can also buy frozen vegies for stir-fry (already pre-mixed). We had a newborn with colics only one year ago, no maids, no nannies, no eating out, all cooked in-house. Cutting few stems off or occasionally peeling some potatoes, onions (sufficiently clean carrot is easily available) etc. is not that laborious. Surely it would be more convenient to have all clean and prepacked but frankly I would not come up with such excuse

It is a valid question and one that I would like to know if there is this option too. I like fresh veggies, but find that purchasing a whole cabbage for instance most of it goes to waste as I cannot eat it all by myself.
@ SMS - you cannot say that there are decent veggie options at most hawker centres, just fried or boiled food (and I don't eat the boiled food / soups because of MSG)
@ Nutnut - and if there is place that is 10mins away that the OP didn't know about? Does it still mean that asking the question was wrong? I'm fairly sure that other people are reading this thread and will take note if the location is convenient to them.

I must admit, personally, I prefer veggies to be packaged in their natural packaging! i.e. leaves and dirt. Not a big fan of pre packed veg. Personal preference I suppose, the OP has every right to buy what they want to.
I'll stick to the wet markets

Sounds to me like somebody is not efficient or doesn't know how to cook. I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly it only takes around two minutes to peel a couple of potatoes and onions. Yeah beans take an extra minute or two to peel the vein and tips off but even then, you could have the base already heating in the wok/pot/ whatever. So it's not taking you any more time at all if you just get organized. And you wouldn't have to a) take the baby with you (just getting the baby ready is more time than peeling the veges. If you have somebody to watch the baby so you don't have to take the baby along, then you don't need those pre-peeled veges anyway. Let that person watch the baby while you prepare.

There are times with newborns that you need to believe life has not changed however tired and exhausted one is.
Peeling veggies during those moments keeps you sane - so don't be so ffing lazy.............or get a maid !

Sheng Siong supermarket does prepacked chopped fresh veg in different packs based on dish.
Really convenient if you're not regimental or 'don't know better'
We use these every so often and it works out cheaper than buying the seperate veg too.

What is with the attacks over a personal choice? You don't want pre packed veggies? Fine. But why jump on someone else for being lazy?
I bet I could find 50 of your life style choices worth jumping on.
Give it a rest... and that includes the mods.

Yeah, having a newborn is a little hard.
If you are not particular about types of vegetables to go with certain dish, you can go for those pre-packed salad mix. It is already cut and prepared, you just need to wash and throw them into the wok. Well that calls for creativity.
On another note, if you don't mind, you can try for home-cooked delivery. Pretty local stuff. I have tried it when my previous landlady orders dinner on daily basis and it is prepared by housewives trying to earn side income.
Or something much suitable for new mothers like you: confinement meal delivery. But I do not have further info on this. Only heard of friends (new mothers, they are) who do it.

This isn't much of a 'forum' if you cannot express a contrary opinion.
You must be a government troll !

Of course you can express a contrary opinion... you just don't need to be an ass about it... and I see no point in calling someone lazy for a choice they wish to make.

You can get some pre-prepared veg - I know they have started doing sliced mushrooms for instance in some branches of Cold Storage, but have to admit that they don't do that much of it.
It can be hard having a newborn - my eldest breast-fed almost constantly for the first 3 weeks and cried when she wasn't feeding..........not enough milk as it turned out but I barely had time for a shower let alone chopping veg. Getting that baby on the formula milk was what kept me sane
If I see any pre-cut veg anywhere Melyates I'll post back and let you know.
