Good pm to all of you guys. i am here because of some reason and asking help or mostly your suggestions for my son situation. i have 3 years old son with a singaporean man but we are not married beacuse he is officially married. now my son need to study already so we did try to apply him a student pass but he got rejected. The ica never give reason for rejecting it and we respect it. we tried to appeal and waited for month and its was rejected for the second time. does my son have right to have any pass for him to stay in singpore and to study? i really dont know if we should try again to reappeal. i hope you all understand why i wanting my son to study in singapore. Unless the child's father is listed on the birth certificate, then no, the child has no "rights" to getting a visa of any sort in Singapore. What is your status in Singapore? Are you here on an EP or WP? Or are you back in your home country? Which is where specifically?

Then it is tricky because you can't prove that you are legally married to your husband to begin with.

If I am not wrong unlike in the Peens your bf which is now married to another person can register another marriage in civil court with you. Only then your son can get a student pass since the child father is a Sger and can sponsor him to that effect and later on PR. For yourself , you can apply LTSVP

Apart from Muslim which allows 4 wives under strict guidelines by Shariah Law, I have known many of my Chinese friends that have two wives in SG, it seems that they can register their marriages via civil court. I do not know the rules around this but it is definitely allowed.

Like I said, my close Chinese friends that I have known all my life have two wives and it is legal. How did he do it , I don't know as this is a bit sensitive and sometimes too personal to probe.

I am just pointing out something that I came across but I reiterate that I do not know the rules around this. Best to check with a family court lawyers in Singapore

May I ask. How long your close Chinese friend married the second wife?

Chinese male can have more than one wife and don't know starting for which year. The law only allow 1 husband and 1 wife except Muslim.

For Muslim, the husband need to get the first wife agreement before he can married second wife. If want to married the third wife, first and second wives must agree.

love83g, may I ask. Is your child born in Singapore?

@mad scientist hi i tried to search on base what you said but friend only Muslim can have the second marriage and if only the wife will agree. in Chinese they will be charge bigamy. so its not possible for non Muslim to register twice unless they are officially divorce>
