Hello,
I'm a caucasian SPR and i'm married with a indonesian-chinese SPR.
We are planning to buy a resale HDB flat under the public scheme.
We need to check we are eligible to buy targetted flats with the ethnic integration policy, but anyone knows what is the group we belong too?
malay: for sure not
chinese?
indian & others?
The answer is obvious when the couple is from the same race, but i did not find any clue in government website regarding mix-race married couple.

I heard that mixed couples belong to both groups, so in your case Chinese and Others.
Others is usually the better choice, because Chinese HDB quota is often filled.

You can either choose one of the undermentioned category
1. ALIEN
2. Go and Potong and become Muslim

Keep in mind if you own any other
property, even abroad. You cannot buy an HDB.

Question: does property for the sake of this rule mean a residential dwelling, or does land count?
If land counts, what if it is in a country that doesn't let you "own" land, but just "lease" it long term from the government? (such as Vietnam)

Same as here. 99 year leases for HDB.

and sometimes cut short, when the government wants the land for redevelopment or feels it is time to 'rebuild' !

Same as every other country that only leases land. Some housing in cities in the US are using leased land as well. Baltimore, MD is one that I know well.

The HDB rules lay it out, and if I recall correctly they refer to 'Property'. But anyone impacted might want to go to the horse's mouth and check it for themselves.

Hmmm, I can see where you're coming from. All apartments in the UK are leasehold (though they might come with a share in the freeholding company). In fact all land in the UK, even freehold, is owned by the Crown, one simply has a right to occupy it in perpetuity.
Anything with a mortgage, the primary owner is the bank. So, I think one needs to go with the spirit of the rule or speak to a lawyer!

yeah, I can see the 99yr thing. Some land in Vietnam however is apparently only 20yr lease. I have to check on the wife's.
