Leaving the forum

Hi - can anyone tell me how to leave the forum. I thought it would be helpful and it turns out that while there are some really helpful people there are a lot of others who are, simply, rather unpleasant. Life's a little too short to deal with that on what is supposed to be a supportive ex-pat forum.

Suit yourself. How to leave? Don't bookmark the forum and don't post. That all there is to it. As far as deleting your posts....

ain't gonna happen....

Wow, judging by the "harsh" thread she was involved in... That's not even harsh by this boards standards! Nothing was said negatively at all about what this poster said.

She is going to have a *very* hard time in Singapore with skin this thin.

Sorry for your experience. Yes, it's a harsh crowd. Lots of unhappy people on here who like to bully others. Singapore is definitely NOT like that.

Gee, you haven't seen enough of Singapore ...

If you need advise, especially free, my 2 cents says, be prepared to get some ribbing ..

If you need pure advise, and no nonsense words, well, I am contemplating a new board, where, for a minor fee, I will have a group of professionals, who will provide concise answers ..

Say, For a small fee of say, starting at 99.99 $ per month - Sms - what say you ? wanna join up the new venture for charging for giving advises ?? :) So we can give 'pleasant responses' - that was in jest.

The bottom line is, none of us are paid by anybody to contribute, and once in a while we diverge from the original request, but we have excellent moderators who try to keep the conversation relevant.

So, if you don't like the clutter, and an occasional direct and straight answer (i.e. not an answer with a lot of icing and sugar), well, all the forums are off limits for you I guess.

People here are terrible ?

I haven't seen anybody name calling or threatening to invade my house, for my words, and thoughts, oh, well, when somebody does that, they are struck out by the good mods here. Unlike in some other forums where each and every question becomes a foreigner bashing thread or goes to name calling and some extremely talented internet detectives sniffing around you and invading your privacy etc.

So ?

The fact that you took time to write here shows that you did get something good. Or didn't you ?

Pardon me, if you feel you been betrayed, let down, harassed, driven to the edge, made feel inadequate etc. etc. etc.

Did you say unhappy people here ? ouch - so far, anybody who is writing regularly, and the mods, they seem to some of of the most extremely lighthearted and jovial people I have met. Could it be that you are paranoid or have social issues with 'joyful' people around ? hmmm and no, I didn't get paid to write that :D

Squirrel, scarbowl's been here around 2.5 years, I don't know how long he's been in Singapore, but probably he was on the receiving end of some verbal retorts a couple of years ago and felt he was done by. It happens. :shit:

But. He obviously got over it. At least enough to stick around.

So, the way I see it, and I've said it before, he, like everyone here, is entitled to his opinions. I don't have to like them, but as long as he doesn't use foul language, racial or religious taunts, or spams the board or our regulars PM boxes, I will defend his right to his opinions. I do the same with everybody.

But that doesn't allow for a dramatic exit to let everyone know just how offended she was.

lol

And yet still no one knows what offended madame so.

(Amusing that Scarbowl apologises on behalf of the forum. Maybe he can look at her brief post history and identify what caused such apparent offence, that which alludes the rest of us?)

Horses for courses; some people like fluffy bullsh*t for answers if it's what they want to hear, where as others like to get the truth and straight to the point even if it's not what they wanted to hear. That's life - everyone has and is entitled to an opinion. Personally, I think this is one of the most informative forums in APAC despite the harshness at times.

The people who usually whinge about regulars and rudeness on here are those who have no intention to reciprocate any help or information - it's all one way and about 'me, me, me'.

Maybe our OP should try the angry board for a while. Some people there take the term 'rather unpleasant' to new levels. Then this place wouldn't seem so bad after all.

Looking at the threads the OP has been involved in, I'm also at a loss to understand what upset her so much. As zzm said, she will need thicker skin to survive in Singapore, and on the internet for that matter.

 An amusing daily occurrence on the "mom" forums, except over there a thread like this usually solicits a ton of "OH PLEASE DON'T GO!!" and "Just ignore those meanies, we need you here!" etc. Gotta love manufactured internet drama. Who needs soap operas?

Very true me thinks lots oF people here have no life -hence the amount of time They spend on here bullying people looking for info- hey if you don't want to give advice- then why don't you guys go elsewhere- they try to justify there rudeness with claims of directness - yeh right -the wagons have circled
