Singapore Expats

Hi all!
I'm an Australian citizen here in Singapore on a Work Holiday Pass, which is valid for a period of 6 months.
My question is - am I allowed to go on short trips (1-2days) to neighbouring countries, eg Malaysia, Thailand, while on the WHP? I ask because I read somewhere once that someone had difficulty re-entering Singapore because of some immigration policy called the "U-turn" or something like that..
I've tried looking up the MOM website, but couldn't find anything.
Any help?

For U Turn- such a action by ICA happens when a person who is entitled to arrival visa (such as yourself, for example), who abuse the system or seem to do so, by repeatedly entering Singapore for no reasons .. and then doing visa runs.

In your case, since you are on a pass, such doesn't happen .. Fret not.

I can check for you tomorrow, in any case, as a colleague from Australia is here on a similar pass.

As long as you have a valid residency permit, you can enter and leave the country as many times as you want. Within reason I'd guess. A Holiday/Work Visa is a residency permit good for 6 months. The U turn visas are SVP & LTVP passes that get you into trouble as then it appears that your continual return to singapore start to look suspicious.

I asked her and she said she got a Multiple Journey Visa stamped - which is the same as any residency / work pass allowing you to depart and return any number of times - as SMS too said.

Thanks so much! I assume I automatically have a Multiple Journey Visa when my WHP was approved...

In fact, it will be written into your Visa card (it will be a green plastic'ish card with all the data imprinted in it). Something like Multiple Journeys permitted or something similar.

I assume this card is my WHP card and the multiple journey is electronically stored on it. Sigh... my company picked up the card for me, so I dont know whether they got me MJ or SJ.

I believe in most cases it a Multiple journey visa. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing a single entry one. In fact, I believe the SVP is the only single entry visa there is. All the rest are residency visas which would come with multiple journey visa in place.
