Hi all,

I have got an offer with a company in Singapore. The company is about to file for the employment pass once I submit all my documents.

But I am also expecting another job offer from a company (not in Singapore). In the case, I get this offer I would prefer to take this offer and may not come to Singapore.

I would like to know how it would affect me if I do not come to Singapore after having the employment pass issued? Will I face any problems in future, if I plan to come to Singapore to work again??

Thanks

If you have not accepted the Singaporean company offer (and they have not received your documents to process), it is OK to say no and wait for that offer from the non-Singaporean company you've been hoping for.

But here is the problem, if you have stated your acceptance and that company have proceeded to process the application, just to have you absconded after you accept the latter company's offer, that will not be good in your records in Singapore (they have long memory here).

So, if you really like the latter offer so much, better don't say yes to the former one first. And do not dangle the former company also in hope to wait for the latter one so that you can revert to the first company should the non-Singaporean company doesn't extend an offer, those are of bad manners.

Or you could still turn up in Singapore, fulfill the exit condition of your contract (like giving a shorter notice period during probation period), and then move to another country if you do get the offer.

Not a bad idea to try out Singapore lifestyle even for just one week. You might like it here.
