What just happened to me?!

I was just in nex for lunch and was eyeing a Baskin Robbins for dessert when a huge guy standing in front of me turned around looking annoyed and asked 'Where are you from?' I wasn't expecting this and just asked him 'what?' to which he pointed his finger at me and asked angrily 'Where are you from?'
I just waved him away and walked a few meters from him (still eyeing the ice creams) and he shouted after me 'White B*****D, damn white motherf*****r'
I wasnt sure what to do except laugh. Then he took his mobile phone out and took a picture of me (which i posed for which a wave and a smile).
Can anyone explain this to me? What did I just experience??!
Usually it is just my forum posts that wind people up. It seems now that it is literally my face that made this guy angry...
Has anyone else experienced anything similar in Singapore? How did you react?

Weird stuff. Did he look high on dope, and about to get aggressive even though this happened in a mall so cctv everywhere?
No point messing with a dope-head who could pull a knife out even if you were both standing outside of a cop shop, but otherwise you should have had a field day with this guy.

What did he look like (aside from huge and angry) and which accent was he speaking with?
And have you checked if you appeared in Stomp?

To be honest I am rubbish at accents and guessing where people come from.
He looked possibly Indian or Malay, definitely not chinese, and the way he was dressed in very dirty old jogging suit along with his awkward posture, it is possible he was on day release.
His phone didnt look like a smartphone, it was very old looking so I imagine if it were to end up on stomp I will be waiting until tomorrow to see it...
But what would he write?
'Ang Mo guy looking a little too longingly at waffle cones'?

This is the frustrating thing, if you take it in your own hands you are not guaranteed justice. Certainly people who are capable of the above have a temperament that may allow them to do things that are way beyond what i might do even at the peak of my rage.
(Also I am weedy and this guy was a giant!!

Must be some nut case. No worries.
But I would have been freaked out if I were you.

Sounds like some Ang Moh just stole his girlfriend. Probably wasn't that hard either, judging from your description.

LOL if that is the case then I may have some empathy with him.
I got the impression this was just racial vitriol. I think I have been fairly luck in that I havent been exposed to anything like this before.
It just amazes me that someone can have this much hate directed at a complete stranger :s

It is impossible for a sane person to reconcile the actions of the insane.
I'd be shocked too if it happened to me, but don't take it personally... I think you were just unlucky enough to run into a nutcase having a bad day.

It could be backlash from the recent story of 4 expats from Singapore who had a run in with a Malaysian Royal Family on Rawa Island.

I wouldn't worry too much bout it, you get nutters like them all the time. And i don't think it's race related as I've seen it happen to locals a few times.

Oh dear, it is awful! But there is no confirmed info on what ACTUALLY transpired into that onslaught... I'm very curious of which state's royal family got involved.
