1. St John island is pretty virgin. So you can really really relax without crowds and noises. Bring a hammock and a nice book!
2. Since it is so, expect very minimal amenities. There is no way you can buy food on the island, except to bring everything you need (ingredients, cooking utensils, cutlery etc). And since a single trip to the island is about 15-25 minutes, you may wanna stock as much as you need. Including water!
3. If you have been pretty pampered at home with air conditioning etc, you should bring your own fan (they have power outlets there).
4. Better pack up on mosquito coil and repellent.
Enjoy

I meant drinking water. Unless you are fine with boiling the tap water.
I just found out that the office also sells canned drinks.
Oh, you're staying at the one near the jetty. I thought you were referring to the small ones at the far end of the island.
All in all, you will love St John Island.

Just google for St John's Island. It will show up under Sentosa Resorts Management website.

Remember St John is had-core, no kentucky at all! When you face down chewing whole raw cabbage you wish you take advises for Magi!

In my entire duration of a work-related stint in St John's Island recently, I have come across 2 large-scale family camps, 1 picnic group (day trip) and few couples.
What I have observed were these:
1. Those who were staying there for the weekened (especially the family camps of 20 - 40 people) brought bags of rice, noodles, cucumbers and potatoes; thermal boxes of meat and lettuces; cookies and instant food; large pots and woks; standing fans (maybe for common use); mats; cutlery and plates/bowls of course; and own luggage bags. Some even brought own musical instruments, amplifiers, audio cables and speakers (for entertainment I suppose). Took them 2 hours just to carry their cargo from the jetty to their chalets (which is located on the other side of the island).
2. For those intending for day trips, they packed own food and beverages and brought along hammocks and mats. And bathing suits of course.
This is just my observation. You may want to check with the management there.
