Singapore Expats

Hi,

I'm in an annoying situation. I have left my bank token at home and thus can't make online transfers. I have a UK debit card and I have opened at Singapore bank account with DBS.

I want to transfer some of my UK funds to my DBS account asap for a apartment deposit. What's the best way to do it? Western Union limit online debit card transfers to #400 and Personal FX take over 5 working days to process a debit card payment (even though the money will leave my UK account instantly!).

You can do what I did my first ~10 days here:

Walk to the HSBC (or whatever your bank is if they have a local presence) and withdraw the maximum cash allowed at ~3pm every day (the time my cash-per-day limit reset), and then walk over to the DBS/POSB atm at ~3:02pm and deposit the cash in.

Since I had HSBC and they have a presence in both locations, the exchange rate was fair and there were no other ATM fees.

Is nobody there in UK, who can access the token? A family member perhaps? If yes, you could make a quick call as soon as you log and ask the person to give you the pin. I guess you must have thought of this option already.

Another option, is open a ready credit account with DBS and you can pay off using that. You need to pay interest on it ofcourse until you get your salary.
