Cancelling EP in a month

I have submitted all the documents and ‘ll collect my EP from the EPSC on Monday but as things stand now I might need to cancel it in a month.
I came to Singapore last week for a project but unfortunately the project has gone on hold. My employer is not giving me any straight answer but they might ask me to go back any day.
I am quite confident that if I try in Singapore then I ‘ll easily get a Job in 2-3 weeks time. Is it okey if I join a new company & cancel my ‘to be received’ EP in such a short duration.

MOM may judge your quick job-hop negatively in the next application.

Yeh, well... maybe... then again, the OP did say that his project had been put on hold... hard to call that "job hopping".
OP... hunt for a job if you can... cannot see how this will affect you negatively as the employer has backed off his contract with you. Are you going to get some compensation for being f*cked over?

I am yet to get any official communication but there is a 30 day notice period from both side in the offer letter ; So I do expect them to pay that amount..

I agree, but unfortunately that isn't something you can easily communicate to MOM via the EP application form. I personally don't think one change will make a material impact on the next application unless it is very border-line already. However, I'm sure they will keep track of any and all if there are future applications..

I am similar situation now!!
I was offered a job, the consulting company pressed hard for me to resign and join within 30 days.. a fortnight ago, I resigned and made hard bargains with employer to relieve me within 30 days.
today morning, the HR from consulting company calls up and says in cold tone ' The project is on hold till Jan, 2013 so we dont need you till that time'.
The options given from her end is to continue in my present job , wait till Jan for confirmation (which she is not sure of outcome) or look for other jobs!!
I am devastated.. never thought such un-professional management of employees and project planning would happen.
So, be careful ; since companies are applying for EP in our name ; getting a visa and later showing their helplessness !!
