Singapore Expats

Hello there,

I am planning to apply for a PR. Would appreciate your valuable inputs.

Race: Indian

In Singapore from July 2011.
Education: MBA (India), CFA, FRM
Work Exp: 5 years in Banking Industry
Currently on EP2.

Husband:

Prior Work Exp: 5.5 yrs tech (US).
Finished his MBA from NUS.
Joined Investment Bank recently.
Haven't paid tax so far.
Will be on EP2 as well.

Family Income: 180K+

No Kids.

What do you guys think are our chances of getting a PR at this point? Does studying in Singaporean universities effect the chances in anyway?

No chance.
Why wouldn't you look around for similar threads?

Thank you for the quick response. I did look through other threads before posting. But could not find relevant threads to check if Masters for both and local college degree would make a big difference.

Do you think waiting 2 more years is the only way out?

2. I assume that SGD180K+ is combined basic salary for both of you for a year. Is that correct? - That's correct. Bonus component is not included which is pretty good.

I think the degree makes no difference at all or is negligible with two main problems being:
- your race
- duration of stay
If what we observe now remains for the coming years two more years unlikely will solve the problems.

Nobody really knows. That's the issue. There is no open points system published. What you could do is think about WHY Singapore would want you to stay; the reasons are pretty standard. Your problem will be that the tide has turned against the Indian race it seems.

Chance is close to zero. One of the director in my company hold an executive MBA degree from NUS and UCLA, his salary alone is easily more than your family income, he is also an Indian, 37 years old with over 10 years of work experience at executive level in the US, his application for PR was rejected after 6 months of waiting, no reason was given and he was not asked to reapply again so it is like a final decision

Seriously? and he shared that information with you? I am yet to see someone so high up in career ladder who actually admits that he got rejected.

he did not share it with me of course, but this has been the talk of the whole department as he and everyone was shocked with the result, i am not sure of his salary but my guess would be above 150K based on our instinct

EMBAs are (to me anyways) a bit of a joke.
