Singapore Expats

Hi All,

First of all ,thanks for reading this topic .

I'm thinking to apply for Singapore PR on Nov/Dec as I feel that I really want to stay here after more than 2 years living here. Would you pls advise if the time for my PR application is right or should I wait until I have paid income tax for 3 years?

My profile:

+ Male, Vietnamese, 30 years old, bachelor degree in Computer Engineering - my spouse (on DP) is Vietnamese and Australia PR (not sure this helps or not .. )
+ Working as a Network Engineer - Oil and Gas Company - P2 EP - annual income >100K
+ In 2009, I worked for 10 months in Singapore and resigned, left due to family reason. Paid 1st income tax.
+ Came back on September 2011 until now. Paid 2nd income tax on June 2012.

For Vietnamese, chance is close to zero, similarly for fillipino, indian etc.. most favorable now are malaysian chineses only

The Australian PR could actually count against because if ICA finds out, they would see it as "why would this person want Singapore PR but Australia already can..." It can also smell of PR collection, although not from the ethnicity more famous for collecting PR visas.

I'd say to give it a shot if you didn't leave, but that gap hurts. Wait another tax assessment or two.

Chartered accountant now working in banking. No masters. Late 30s.

Are you able to contribute family wise (i.e. male sons)? Your profession doesn't ring any bad bells but I wonder if ICA will see you as more likely to move on unless there is something tying you to Singapore?
